EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be a graduate of a physical therapy program accredited by the Council of Medical Education of the A.M.A. in collaboration with the American Physical Therapy Association or an equivalent institution.
LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Must hold a current, unrestricted license or registration to practice physical therapy.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist in a clinical environment is required.
CREDENTIALS
Current CPR certification as mandated by the client facility; additional health screenings as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory bodies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Various healthcare facility settings; potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to ATC policies and procedures.
- Follows client facility policies and procedures.
- Develops, implements, and reassesses the patient's care plan.
- Accurately documents all services provided.
- Evaluates and sets goals based on the patient's current capabilities and potential for improvement.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Effectively communicates relevant information to appropriate personnel.
- Administers treatment to alleviate pain and/or restore function to optimize performance.
- Plans for patient discharge, preparing summaries and instructions.
- Provides care in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner that acknowledges cultural diversity and age appropriateness, ensuring autonomy, rights, and dignity are upheld.
- Maintains professional competency through continuing education and meets state-specific requirements.
- Adheres to accepted ethical and professional standards of conduct.
