Clinical Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Manager to join our team at LabCorp. This is a leadership opportunity to oversee the operations and administration of the clinical laboratory testing for the Microbiology Department.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct the daily operational activities of the Microbiology department, ensuring technical and non-technical operations run smoothly.
- Effectively manage the staffing of the department, monitoring production schedules to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime.
- Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory supervisors, taking ownership of departmental staff.
- Ensure the diagnostics laboratory provides market-leading service levels, meeting client needs and corporate service metrics.
- Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner, consulting with Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulatory requirements, ensuring personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing.
- Assist in developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installing equipment and methods.
- Manage staff, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, training, and development.
- Ensure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, corporate operations, and direct reports.
- Conduct departmental meetings and maintain departmental communication.
- Investigate deviations from established procedures, ensuring effective corrective action.
- Maintain technical knowledge in the assigned department(s) for laboratory testing.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technologist in a clinical diagnostics laboratory.
- Microbiology experience preferred.
- Prior supervisor experience managing several direct reports.
- Previous experience managing people leaders is a plus.
- ASCP certification is required.
- Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations.
- Understanding of laboratory operations and policies and procedures.
- Proven success in training and developing technical and non-technical employees.
- Ability to problem-solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision.
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
