Job Title: Structural Welder/ Ironworker Journeyman

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a skilled Structural Welder/ Ironworker Journeyman to join our team at MasTec Industrial. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for joining numerous types and configurations of metal components using various welding processes. Your attention to detail, ability to work at heights, and commitment to safety will be essential in ensuring the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and welding symbols to perform tasks accurately.
  • Follow project specifications, Quality Control program documents, and understand WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
  • Perform GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW, and other mixed-type welds based on project needs.
  • Field install welds, including structural, duct work, hoppers, bag house's, attachment points for Electricians, Ironworkers, and Pipefitters.
  • Select proper fillers for welding tasks based on welding procedure specifications.
  • Prepare welding surfaces per welding procedure to achieve proper joint detail.
  • Assist pipe fitters in pulling measurements to prep work areas, help prep material to weld and install, and perform other tasks as needed to complete jobs.
  • Work with other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
  • Communicate with Foreman regarding any problems arising, materials required, or any hazards noted.
  • Ability to work different shifts and overtime as required.
  • Work under production schedule pressure.
  • Attain set standards of accuracy.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred).
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards.
  • Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Physical Demands:

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina.
  • Use arms, hands, and legs fully.
  • Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Ability to work at heights and abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements.
