Job Summary

Duke University is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated College Access Advisor to join our team. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of high school students from underserved communities.

In this position, you will be responsible for providing individualized guidance and support to students as they navigate the college application process. You will work closely with students, parents, and school counselors to ensure that students are aware of their post-secondary options and have the necessary resources to succeed.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and educators. A bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field is required, and prior experience working with youth is highly preferred.

This is a full-time, 12-month position with a salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

* Provide individualized guidance and support to high school students as they navigate the college application process
* Work closely with students, parents, and school counselors to ensure that students are aware of their post-secondary options and have the necessary resources to succeed
* Develop and implement college readiness programs and workshops for students
* Build strong relationships with local community organizations and businesses to secure resources and support for students
* Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement strategies to increase college access and success rates among underrepresented populations

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field
* Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a college access or academic advising setting
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and educators
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
