Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the National Park Service. As a key member of our Facilities Management Division, you will be responsible for performing journeyman-level trade work in the activation, operation, and deactivation of park water and wastewater utility systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on water and wastewater systems, including wells, treatment plants, distribution systems, and storage facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex industrial and precision instruments and equipment.
  • Operate backhoe tractors, sewage pumper trucks, dump trucks, and small loaders.
  • Perform laboratory duties to ensure water and wastewater meet standards.
  • Oversee the operation of water and wastewater systems and maintain and repair plant equipment.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and Colorado Backflow Assembly Tester Certificate required within 12 months of appointment.
Working Conditions

Exposure to seasonal weather conditions, dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment. May be exposed to electrical shocks, biting insects, and physical hazards.
