Job Title: General Dentist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Dentist to join our team at Fort Leonard Wood. As a General Dentist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to service members and being a part of a great community on a military base.

Job Duties:
  • Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues using dental instruments, dental radiographs, and other diagnostic instruments.
  • Provide general dentistry procedures, including simple and complex restorations using approved restorative materials.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat periodontal structures and diseases.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of the dental pulp and other dental tissues affecting the vitality of teeth and establish treatment plans.
  • Treat exposure of the dental pulp by pulp capping or removal of the dental pulp from the pulp chamber and root canal.
  • Examine, diagnose, and provide fixed and removable prosthetic procedures as approved by the local credentials committee.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat specific teeth for extraction and/or surgical removal as approved by the local credentials committee.
  • Prescribe medications, enter workload into workload data reporting systems, and consult with and refer patients to appropriate specialists when necessary.
  • Conduct oral health counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, and diet counseling.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat other conditions of the oral cavity as approved by the local credentials committee.

Qualifications:
  • All dentists shall be a graduate (DDS/DMD) that qualifies them to obtain a state license.
  • Active license in 1 of the 50 states (do not need to be licensed in the state of employment).
  • Must have 6 months of work in the past year or recent graduate.
  • BLS Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
