CT Scan Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated CT Scan Technologist to join our outpatient services team. This role involves working on a full-time basis during the day shift (11am-7pm) and encompasses a variety of essential functions and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Professional Standards: Adhere to established performance standards, policies, and behaviors. Ensure accurate preparation and positioning of patients for specific examinations, taking into account unique requirements for each protocol while maintaining thorough documentation.
- Technical Skills: Take charge of designated areas and procedures, producing high-quality technical images. Review completed examinations for quality and completeness based on the type of test ordered.
- Collaborative Care: Support physicians during procedures as needed. Ensure cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories, and promptly report any equipment malfunctions.
- Operational Efficiency: Conduct equipment quality assurance and calibrations as required. Communicate with senior staff regarding low supply levels that need replenishment.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to respond to emergency procedures or unexpected situations within the department. Availability for on-call duties, holidays, overtime, and various shifts is essential to maintain safe departmental coverage.
- Patient Engagement: Introduce yourself to patients, verify their identity using two identifiers, and explain the examination process to them and their family members. Provide care that addresses the physical and psychosocial needs of diverse patient populations.
- Continuous Education: Meet ongoing education requirements as set by regulatory bodies. Stay informed about department-specific protocols and policies.
- Leadership Role: May serve as an instructor or preceptor. Treat all individuals with professionalism and courtesy, upholding the organization's behavioral standards.
- Technological Competence: Manage image processing or printing of CDs as necessary. Perform routine administrative tasks, including answering phones and documenting patient information in relevant systems.
- Emergency Readiness: Be available for emergency department coverage as needed. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited allied health education program or hospital-based radiography program.
- Required licensure includes NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit, ARRT registration (RT), and certification in radiography (R) and/or (CT) or NMTCB registration (CNMT), with documented training in operating CT equipment and understanding radiation physics and protection.
- Must pass advanced CT examination/certification within one year of hire.
- Maintain continuing education requirements, ensuring compliance with current standards of 24 ECE credits over a two-year period.
- Preferred: DOH IV certification or completion of a 6-month orientation.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Commitment to radiation dose pledges for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology will be addressed during orientation and before the end of the probationary period.
