Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist role demands meticulous attention to detail alongside a proactive and analytical approach. This position is designed for individuals eager to learn and master the operational framework of Orion. The role supports both Operations and Finance, integrating into the Orion Accounting/Controllers team. The Accounting Specialist will engage in daily financial activities and reporting related to payments, cash management, billing, and collections. Additionally, this role will contribute to process enhancements across various operational functions. A strong analytical mindset is essential, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting. Candidates should exhibit curiosity, self-motivation, and the capability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. The Accounting Specialist will report directly to the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, general ledger accounting associated with month-end and quarter-end close processes, financial reporting, managing daily financial operations, and undertaking special projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Accounting Manager with the monthly closing process, ensuring timely preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
- Deliver recurring reports and support to teams across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with other IPG sister agencies to report intercompany transactions on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Support the Omaha shared services team with accounts receivable and payment reports derived from Orion vendor data.
- Collect and record client/vendor payment information and client savings weekly, reconciling against the general ledger.
- Establish and maintain the Media & Accounting System by processing new client and vendor requests.
- Conduct periodic inventory counts and maintain records for any barter goods stored in-house.
- 0-2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Familiarity with journal entries, month-end reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and other accounting functions.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of balance sheets.
- Excellent communication skills, as significant interaction with other departments and agencies is required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-starter with the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, spreadsheets, and queries.
- Experience with Hyperion and SAP is advantageous.
- Revenue and media experience are beneficial.
