Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with disabilities and health conditions that impact learning
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, and acuity assessments for students with disabilities
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including IEP-related documents
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for students
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and AED as needed
  • Assist in the development of health policies, procedures, and goals for the school district
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Valid registered nurse license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or other related fields
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling, and bending, as well as the ability to lift and carry moderate weights. The School Nurse will also be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $62,995/BA, $63,495/MA, $63,995/PHD (based on previous experience). The position is a 190-day contract, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
