A Day in the Life

As a Semi-Volatiles Specialist, you will be part of a team that is responsible for analyzing solvent extracts for semi-volatile organic pollutants by GC-MS analysis. You will review data and assemble reports, maintain reagents and supplies inventory, and perform other duties as prescribed by the Company. You will also have the opportunity to mentor Lab Technicians and Analysts, and participate in focus teams to improve efficiency.

Your Expertise and Skills

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Requires a BA/BS in science
  • 2+ years of GCMS experience in an environmental lab
  • Position requires attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and a desire to work both as part of a team and independently

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of analytical methods, analytical instruments, general lab practices, and lab safety
  • Must be flexible in work schedule (including Saturday) and able to work overtime
  • Well-organized and have an attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
