Job Title: Construction Layout Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Layout Specialist to join our team at Motor City Electric Co. in Detroit, MI.

Job Summary:

The Construction Layout Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and performing construction site layout tasks to ensure accurate preparation of the construction site for the installation teams. This includes assisting in the development of a new construction layout workflow, planning and setting up layout control for assigned construction projects, and establishing reference points for under slab, aboveground, and overhead phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of a new construction layout workflow
  • Plan and set up layout control for assigned construction projects
  • Establish reference points for under slab, aboveground, and overhead phases
  • Verify existing conditions are shown on drawings before layout and prior to construction
  • Layout column center lines and wall locations for electrical/structural support systems
  • Coordinate and identify interference with other trades on projects and lead the resolution process
  • Work with QA/QC and field personnel to verify that all completed work has been installed per plans, specifications, and layout
  • Perform as-built surveys to verify correct placement of work and help develop record drawings

Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • 1-5 years' experience in the use of Robotic GPS equipment/Surveying in Commercial Construction industry is a plus
  • AutoCAD MEP/Revit Software is a plus (will provide on-the-job training)
  • Good mathematical and critical thinking skills that relate to the use and operation of Robotic GPS equipment
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction blueprints and project specifications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and strong diligence while meeting aggressive project schedules

Equipment and Computer Software Requirements:

  • Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore & other Project Management Software
  • Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Trimble Connect, Robotic Total Stations, Autodesk Point Layout
  • Auto Levels/Lasers
  • Trimble GPS/machine control and/or Drone Flying experience preferred
