Job Summary

The Community School Facilitator plays a vital role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive school environment that values diversity and promotes student success. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a community school plan that aligns with the school's vision and mission.
  • Convene and facilitate the Community School Advisory Board meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and individuals to secure resources and support for the school community.
  • Provide leadership and support to teachers and staff to foster regular, two-way communication with families and promote student engagement.
  • Identify and develop resources to address the needs of families within the school community, and communicate directly with families about those resources.
  • Facilitate asset and needs assessments to inform the community school plan and ensure alignment with the school's vision.
  • Ensure fiscal accountability and manage budget and grant funds effectively.
  • Support the evaluation of the community school program and provide timely reports and data collection.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years of school-related social service or community development experience. Experience in K-12 public education preferred.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Teacher Certification, School Counseling or Social Worker Certificate preferred.
Working Conditions

The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment and within the school community before, during, and after school day hours. Occasional travel throughout the county and state may be required.

Conditions of Employment

Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of the school community. Requires attendance at after-school and evening meetings and events.
