Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishes frameworks and oversees daily functions for a holistic real estate services initiative by providing guidelines, policies, and tools for managing real estate effectively. This enables informed decision-making regarding leasing, purchasing, and selling opportunities, along with lease management, financial assessments, and due diligence, while also engaging in strategic planning and evaluation of the overall real estate portfolio.
  • Oversees projects related to new construction, renovations, and remodeling, including facility planning, programming, budget development, and schedule management (in collaboration with departmental leaders), legal agreements, and contracts, as well as architectural and engineering planning and design, project management (including consultant and vendor oversight), compliance with regulations, and wayfinding/signage planning.
  • Engages in team selection, fee negotiations when necessary, program definition, Certificate of Need support, assists in the development and review of design documents, and collaborates on budget and schedule creation with finance and construction teams. Interfaces with regulatory bodies, ensures compliance with codes, conducts periodic inspections of ongoing work, and supervises the preparation and completion of design punch lists.
  • Collaborates with project teams to ensure successful development of detailed schedules for planning and design; works with departments to align overall project timelines and work plans to meet Proforma targets. Supports construction and finance teams in aiding contractors with construction cost estimates at key milestones during the design phase.
  • Contributes to the establishment and structuring of a new system-wide Planning and Design Division, with direct accountability for various aspects related to service-line enhancements, product development, process improvement strategies, quality control measures, and customer relations strategies.
  • Leads project-specific LEAN operational improvement initiatives (clinical and/or functional) to be implemented prior to the planning and design of all projects. Establishes outcome-based goals and objectives and scoring criteria to ensure alignment with corporate objectives for planning and design projects.
  • Conducts industry research and collaborates with national healthcare providers, architects, contractors, and other regulatory and business entities to ensure a best practice approach to Planning and Design services applicable to the organization.
  • Structures and manages collaborative cross-service line efforts and task forces, including Supply Chain, Information Services, and other relevant support services for specific projects.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • No specific licensure required.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or a related field.
Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in consulting, planning, construction, real estate, engineering, or architecture, with a focus on hospital planning and design.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Expertise in healthcare planning and design.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Team-building capabilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • This role necessitates travel, which may expose the individual to varying weather and road conditions.
