ChristianaCare is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Newark, Delaware.

Job Summary:

  • Assist pharmacists in providing timely and efficient pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Fill patient prescriptions, including data entry, insurance billing, and labeling and packaging for pharmacist verification.
  • Make medication credit and charge adjustments via the computer system.
  • Ensure extra medication is returned to stock and reorder medications in short supply.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Answer telephone and greet personnel in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Provide necessary information regarding patient drug orders and refer problems and drug information inquiries to the pharmacist as required.
  • Orient and train new pharmacy personnel.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous outpatient pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
  • Applicants enrolled in or a graduate of either a 2-year Associates Degree program or a 4-year Bachelors Degree program in Health Science Majors are encouraged to apply and will be required to achieve PTCB certification within 1 year of hire date.
  • Experience with McKesson Enterprise application preferred.
  • Knowledge of generic and trade names of formulary drugs.
  • Ability to type and perform basic math calculations.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service required.
  • Ability to handle high volume.
