Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Canine Handler to join our team at The Dog Stop Stuart (TDS-0040). This is a part-time position, with approximately 20-25 hours per week, possibly more during peak seasons.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care to dogs in both daycare and boarding settings. This includes setting up daily facilities with fresh water, cleaning equipment, and playground materials. In addition, they will ensure the safety and cleanliness of the daycare rooms, maintain accurate records of incidents and health issues, and provide mental stimulation through various games and activities.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate a high level of accountability and reliability. They should also have the ability to provide excellent customer service and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Providing daily care to dogs in daycare and boarding settings, including feeding, medicating, and monitoring their behavior and health.
- Cleaning and maintaining the daycare rooms, kennels, and surrounding areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the animals.
- Recording incidents and health issues, and communicating them to management and other staff members.
- Providing mental stimulation and enrichment activities for dogs in daycare, such as recall, sit and stay, and follow the leader.
- Maintaining accurate records and logs, including time-out logs, incident reports, and A-Rate Rotation Logs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; dog care experience preferred but not necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accountability and reliability.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and stand for extended periods.
Salary: $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience. Estimated salary: $38,000 - $45,000 per year.
