Atlanta, Georgia, United States AIG Full time

Transforming Insurance Solutions

AIG is reimagining the way we help customers manage risk. As a Casualty Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in this transformation. This opportunity allows you to grow your skills and experience as a valued member of the team.

Underwriting Expertise

AIG's underwriters develop innovative insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals. They embody AIG's tradition of innovation, bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions for our changing world. Our underwriters help find insurance solutions for risks from various areas, including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals.

Your Impact

The primary responsibility of the Business Analyst involves supporting maintenance activities related to Casualty policy issuance systems. You will report directly to the policy insurance systems business owner. Analysts work on a team, sharing responsibilities for meeting timeline and quality targets. This includes monitoring team workloads and coordinating testing efforts among other team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor bureau-published circulars and AIG independent filings to determine systems impact and plan implementations.
  • Work with other departments, such as State Filings and Actuarial, to ensure AIG properly files and adopts proposed changes.
  • Coordinate updates across application and document teams to ensure policy documents are correctly produced.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings regarding application updates to identify and test all changes from delivery to implementation.
  • Maintain proper documentation and tracking information to ensure all proposed changes are successfully resolved.
  • Produce reports of pending items and anticipated impacts of any delays to keep management informed of possible problems.
  • Assist with market conduct exams when needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and balancing competing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience in an underwriting or auditing role for the major lines of business is a plus.
  • Analyze and evaluate distinct solutions by recommending and gaining consensus for the most efficient and cost-effective solution for implementation of forms, endorsements, or other policy issuance resolutions.
  • Rating knowledge of Work Comp, GL, Auto, or Property. Candidate should understand how to manually rate a policy, including knowledge of increased limits, loss cost multipliers, base rates vs loss costs, and other rating plans. Also, knowledge of coverage parts and applicable forms attachment to insurance policies is needed.
  • Candidate must be able to read circulars and interpret the material and then explain requirements to programmers. This requires problem-solving and supporting the team in a proactive way to ensure success and includes testing the systems to ensure proper implementation and accuracy of the change(s) made before release to the underwriting community.
  • Research questions/help desk issues raised by user community on functionality of systems. This may include calling State Insurance Departments, NCCI, or ISO for further information, to maintain a balance between must-have and nice-to-have requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products helpful, especially Word, Excel, and Access. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed.
