Respiratory Therapist

Christus Health is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer respiratory care and diagnostic procedures and therapies as assigned by the Department Manager or appropriate supervisor.
- Perform CPR and maintain current certification for basic life support by the American Heart Association.
- Understand and practice safe respiratory care techniques and adhere to all universal precautions.
- Assess, plan, and provide individualized care for patients in compliance with physician's orders, taking into account the mental status, development, and physical needs of each patient based on age.
- Perform specialized skills involved in advanced life support or in intensive care utilizing additional knowledge in bedside monitoring, management, and weaning from mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gases, and nutritional assessments.
- Collect and interpret arterial blood gases and attest to the competency to perform this procedure according to department Policies & Procedures.
- Perform EKGs, PFTs, Stress Testing, EEGs, and Holter and/or Event monitoring according to department Policies & Procedures.
- Administer drugs in accordance with department Policies & Procedures and attest to the competency to perform those procedures.
- Perform oxygen and equipment rounds in accordance with department Policies & Procedures.
- Document procedures in Medical Record and department records to ensure statistical and charging accuracy according to department Policies & Procedures.
- Perform required equipment maintenance, preparation, cleaning, and sterilization per department Policies & Procedures.
- Education: Associate of Science degree or equivalent.
- Licenses & Certifications: Preferred certifications include L-Resp Care Pro, C-Reg Resp Therapist, C-Cert Resp Therapist, and C-BLS.
