Position Overview:

At Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP, we pride ourselves on being "People Focused and Project Driven". With over a century of experience, we are recognized for our commitment to excellence in both our projects and our workforce.

We are seeking a seasoned Water/Wastewater Engineer with 15-20 years of extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems. This includes expertise in facilities, transmission systems, storage solutions, pumping stations, force mains, and the assessment, design, and rehabilitation of sanitary sewer systems. Experience during the construction phase is highly valued.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently on technical assignments with minimal oversight, lead and coordinate various technical tasks, and, when necessary, act as the project design lead.

Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in preparing technical proposals, particularly focusing on developing innovative technical approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, manage, and provide design guidance for water and wastewater projects.
  • Supervise the design office operations.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities, preparing proposals and presentations as needed.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to quality standards.
  • Engage in the construction phase, including pre-bid meetings, interpretations, evaluations, and contract preparation.
  • Participate in pre-project presentations and interviews.
  • Lead project planning from procurement through execution and closeout, continuously monitoring project status to meet objectives.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (preferred).
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia or the ability to obtain it through comity within six months (preferred).
