Psychology Professor

The Instructor for Psychology is responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in Psychology courses, including dual credit high school students. This individual maintains office hours, teaches extended day classes, and hybrid/online courses as required. They also assist in the development of curriculum and participate in recruitment and retention efforts.

• Engage students in the learning process through active teaching methods
• Maintain ethical and professional behavior in the workplace
• Stay up-to-date with policies and procedures in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
• Participate in college service, including committee work, advising, and recruiting
• Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department
• Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
• Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
• Stay current with national trends and developments in education
• Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
• Assist in the development of curriculum as needed

• Master's degree in Psychology or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Psychology
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Good time management skills

• Experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching Psychology in the secondary school environment
• Doctorate degree in subject area
• Related field and/or industry certifications
