About the Opportunity

The Hawaiian Humane Society is seeking a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian to join our team. As a Veterinary Care Professional, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical and surgical care to shelter animals, while also promoting the humane treatment of animals in our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Practice: Provide direct and indirect patient care, including physical examinations, diagnostics, medications, and treatments.
  • Surgical Services: Perform surgeries on shelter animals, including spay/neuter surgeries, wound repairs, and other routine soft tissue procedures.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical and surgical records, contributing to the efficient operation of the veterinary services program.

Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Education: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Licensure: An active and unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience with high-quality/high-volume spay/neuter and other routine soft tissue surgeries with low complication/recheck rate, as well as knowledge of current trends and best practices in shelter medicine.
