Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop mechanical and physical concepts, designs, and processes for structures, systems, and components.
  • Coordinate with engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to facilitate design closure and deliver high-quality engineering work products.
  • Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings of equipment, structures, systems, and components.
  • Assist in defining and developing system/component geometric interfaces.
  • Assess models for manufacturability and assembly and integration considerations.
  • Create and check manufacturing technical data packs and 2D detail component drawings.
  • Ensure structures, systems, and components are properly designed and integrated into the design of the overall system.
  • Perform design/drafting activities for the engineering group, including preparing and updating manufacturing drawings.
  • Serve as an information source on planning and design of equipment installations.
  • Maintain notes, design calculations, and other documentation for future reference.
  • Identify and follow best CAD modeling and drafting practices and communicate them with other team members.
  • Engage vendors in the design and manufacturing of defined systems and their related components.
  • Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Establish filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings.
  • Maintain system and model compatibility in X-energy's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in drafting, CAD, engineering, or related degree from an accredited institution or High School Diploma and 2 years of experience in a role with similar tasks/responsibilities.
  • Typically, three years of experience in a CAD/3D drafter/designer role.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (or similar standards) for Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (e.g. UG/NX, SolidWorks, PTC Creo/Pro-E, or similar).
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (e.g. Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar).
