Join Pipestone (Emp Serv LLC) as a Gilt Development Unit Lead and take on a challenging role in swine production management. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the GDU, ensuring the health and well-being of the gilts, and driving productivity and efficiency in our pig farm operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the overall operation of the GDU, including feed intake, feeder management, and water quality.
- Implement and maintain effective health management practices, including vaccination schedules and treatment protocols.
- Monitor and control ventilation systems to maintain optimal air quality and temperature.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize stress events and promote animal welfare.
- Collaborate with the farm team to achieve weekly targets for mortality, removals, and health and nutrition status.
- Maintain accurate records and inventory of gilts, including ear tagging and recording.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of experience in pig production or a related field.
- Completion of Pipestone Emerging Leader - GDU program.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
The Gilt Development Unit Lead will work in a fast-paced agricultural swine environment, with exposure to noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas. The role requires standing, walking, and ability to be on feet for 8-10 hours per day, as well as frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
