  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand AI model requirements and determine optimal data annotation strategies. Provide technical expertise on annotation schema, taxonomy, and guidelines.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to align annotation priorities and roadmap with overall business goals. Understand commercial objectives and translate them into technical implementation plans.
  • Monitor annotation throughput, quality, and costs. Analyze trends and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements through process optimization, tooling enhancements, or contractor management.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and best practices in data annotation for machine learning. Continuously refine annotation playbooks and share knowledge across teams.
  • Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resource plans for annotation projects. Balance speed, cost, and quality trade-offs.

  • Evaluate and select annotation vendors/contractors. Define statements of work, manage relationships, and monitor performance.
  • Work cross-functionally across data science, engineering, and product teams to ensure annotation outputs meet downstream needs.

A Day in the Life

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will ensure consensus across functional teams. You will get status updates on current annotation projects and any issues that may have come up, discuss launch plans for upcoming annotation projects and resources needed, connect with internal stakeholders to align on requirements and goals for new initiatives in the pipeline. You provide guidance to the annotation team leads on best practices and workflows, developing documentation, updating project plans, and preparing program status for leadership. You diligently summarize action items and next steps to ensure all work streams are progressing forward with clear owners and timeline.
