Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of large-scale Natural Language Understanding technologies for Apple products.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in building and maintaining complex software and machine learning models, as well as establishing and implementing evaluation processes to ensure delightful end-to-end user experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and run project timelines with clear dependencies, critical path, and systematic methodology to communicate status.
  • Handle risks and mitigations, and re-plan as events warrant. Drive alignment across the organization and between teams.
  • Partner with engineering teams to define human annotation requirements vital to launch and maintain premier Apple software products.
  • Drive on-time delivery and deployment, identifying development and feasibility needs, establishing achievements for checkpoints and status updates.
  • Work with data science and data engineering teams to develop data collection and ML model evaluation solutions.
  • Work with annotation operation teams to optimize and lead human data collection and evaluation efforts.
  • Work with engineering, privacy, and legal teams to develop safe data collection.
  • Work with research teams to develop long-term evaluation solutions.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in project or program management shipping products driven by machine-learned systems to worldwide users.
  • Strong analytical skills and obsession for data, solid understanding of metrics measuring machine learning models and overall system quality; skilled at measuring impact from user experience standpoint.
  • Detailed understanding of testing, build, and release processes for sophisticated software.
  • Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills, including experience leading metrics-driven projects or programs.
  • Ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly and independently manage complex project objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to independently draft and present deliverables, recommendations, and communication strategies.
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $293,800. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
