The Mental Health Worker position at ABSMC-Alta Bates Herrick Campus is a dynamic role that requires a compassionate and skilled individual to provide direct patient care and support to patients on the acute care inpatient services. As a Mental Health Worker, you will work under the direction of the Unit Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, or Team Leader to gather and report observational data, provide emotional support, and implement therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with bathing and personal hygiene, encouraging independence and dignity.
- Utilize effective communication skills to facilitate patient communication and interaction.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, reporting any shifts in mood or activity to the R.N.
- Assist patients in developing constructive alternative behaviors and coping skills.
- Participate in patient admissions, discharges, and rounds, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Document observations and interventions in the medical record, using a problem-oriented format.
- Collaborate with the R.N. to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Participate in patient education and support, promoting recovery and relapse prevention.
- Assist with patient transportation and activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including confidentiality and patient rights.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in a behavioral health care setting.
Previous experience in a behavioral health care setting, with a focus on patient care and support.
Work EnvironmentThis role is a part-time position, working 36 hours per week, with every other weekend required. The pay range is $29.00 to $32.50 per hour.
