About the JobJob Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Systems Specialist to join our team. As a specialist, you will be responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems. You will work under minimal supervision and provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface.

You will have extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems and be able to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software. You will also consult with customers, provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements, and assist sales by providing technical recommendations.

The ideal candidate will have at least four years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including buildings, chiller plants, and systems. A vocational school program graduate or associate's degree in a technical field, or two years' experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems, is required.

This role requires effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites, as well as the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical people.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software
  • Consult with customers through data gathered and site assessments
  • Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment
  • Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager, or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings
  • May assist with job layouts and bid proposals
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems
  • Keep customer informed on the service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement
  • Promote the sale of add-on work
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards
  • Provide safety leadership and instruction to all control's technicians in the branch
  • Provide safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors
  • Train the customer in control systems operations
  • Deliver manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required
  • Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems
  • Coach, support, and train the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment
  • Compile job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates, and punch lists
  • Conduct extensive self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines
  • Complete certifications as required by the company
