Pharmacy Technician II

This role is responsible for independently performing a range of duties in the pharmacy, including sterile compounding, medication distribution, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy operations and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform sterile compounding of non-hazardous and hazardous drugs
- Clean and maintain sterile compounding rooms according to policies and procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot compounding devices, communicating effectively with pharmacists as needed
- Understand and utilize various medication inventories appropriately
- Triage and escalate environmental monitoring issues as necessary
- Distribute medications and train new staff on accurate dispensing
- Triage and remove outdated supplies, rotating products as needed
- Work with the pharmacy buyer and supply chain to request new products and address ordering issues
- Escalate issues raised by Information Systems personnel, maintenance engineering, and supply chain or other departments in a timely manner
- Monitor IV fluids and supplies inventory, placing orders as necessary
- Assist pharmacists with filling ambulatory clinic floor stock request forms
- Perform at least two advanced assignments, as required by the pharmacy technician ladder
- Train other staff in basic pharmacy operations
- Assist with projects as assigned
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications, is qualifying.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 6 months of sterile compounding or inpatient hospital experience
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy, or equivalent

- Knowledge of Medical terminology and abbreviations
- Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies
