Job Description:

Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, preparing and planning meals, and financial budgeting.
  • Provides transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintains good communication via appropriate means between staff regarding clients' needs and progress toward their plan of care.
  • Accurately completes all documentation required by FCC, including behavioral reports, incident reports, compliant forms, personal care work sheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, monthly attendance logs, and other required documentation.
  • Follows proper medication management guidelines and assists in the monitoring and documentation of these procedures.
  • Organizes and carries out recreational activities for clients.
  • Treats clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times, representing FCC's mission in all actions.
  • Maintains FCC facilities and grounds, keeping them clean, orderly, and functioning.
  • Attends necessary training and continuing education.
  • Provides proof of liability insurance and keeps current.
  • May be required to undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency in operating a motor vehicle, including passenger vans.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc., Senior Center Programs, and clients, adhering to FCC's Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Work Environment

The work environment is usually moderate, with a focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for clients. This is a safety-sensitive function, requiring the ability to pass background checks/drug screens and maintain a clean driving record with a valid AR driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
