The Ijaz Group is in search of a Senior Accounting Associate to join our expanding Finance & Accounting Solutions division, primarily focusing on clients within the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Associate will be responsible for ensuring the precision of client accounting systems and financial reporting. This role involves collaboration with a team of senior accountants, coordination with auditors, and the generation of regular financial reports. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the monthly closing process, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and generating financial statements, ensuring timely completion of monthly close.
  • Collaborating with clients' Development and Program teams to create and maintain tools and processes for tracking, reporting, and reconciling financial records and transactions.
  • Monitoring all restricted funding to guarantee accurate reporting to funders and budget-to-actual forecasting for client organizations.
  • Partnering with the internal client accounting team to address existing and emerging needs, such as grant reporting, payroll tracking, and compliance with new payroll regulations.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of reports and documentation of procedures.
  • Preparing audit schedules, liaising with auditors, and gathering information for tax and registration requirements.
  • Assisting in the preparation of information for Form 990, charitable registrations, and other tax returns as needed by clients.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • A background in outsourced accounting is essential, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting is highly beneficial.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and procedures is preferred, including accounts payable, payroll, or cash management. Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting software is advantageous.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience in an outsourced accounting environment is required.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Sage Intacct, are preferred.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills are essential.
  • Professionalism and sound judgment in handling confidential information are crucial.
