Optum Physician Team Lead Job Description

Optum is seeking a Physician Team Lead to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. As a clinician-led care organization, we are changing the way clinicians work and live.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides diagnosis, treatment, therapy, and management of patients according to current standards of care utilizing best evidence-based practices recommendations.
  • Works collaboratively with patients to provide a patient-centered approach to care, adhering to Optum's patient-centered mission.
  • Drives organization-specific initiatives, including STAR, HEIDIS, and CAPHS/HOS, and ensures that processes and procedures are in-line with the approved business model.
  • Ensures quality indicators are being met and continuously improved by participating in quality meetings.
  • Supervises clinician team members, including coordination of paid time off, CME time, and expense approvals.
  • Partners with Operations leadership to ensure the success of the clinic team within the clinics.
  • Ensures clinician team members are in compliance with Optum policies and procedures and serves as the liaison between the People Team for policy interpretation.

Requirements:

  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Arizona or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Board certification or Board Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine.
  • Current and unrestricted DEA certificate.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of primary care operations, management practices, human relations, consensus building, and collaborative ability.
