About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Program Manager to join our team at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. As a key member of our Data Governance Office, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing large-scale data governance programs that drive business value and ensure data quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage engagement with data governance programs to create a rhythm for ongoing support, maturity, and metrics reporting.
  • Work with the Data Governance team and business partners to research, evaluate, document, maintain standards, and data governance best practices.
  • Collate requirements for projects from the perspective of the Data Governance team and participate in overall project implementation.
  • Perform a consultative role in the assessment of policy and standards alignment, data inventories for scoped applications, data content management, DQ rules, access management, data security, and data risk.
  • Support data governance tooling projects, business metadata management, and documentation.
  • Support data governance working group and data council engagement.
  • Appetite to learn new technologies and be ready to work on new cutting-edge cloud technologies.
  • Interact with business analysts and functional analysts in requirements gathering and implementation.
  • Collaborate with the extended project team on compiling proposals, including high-level technical solutions, estimates, and project plans.
  • Provide technical support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle around technology platforms, solution design, security, profiling, performance tuning, etc.
Requirements
  • 8+ years' experience in enterprise-wide implementation of Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Management programs.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Data Governance Council or Data Management Committees.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up Data Governance processes in either financial or insurance company settings.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience working on complex large-scale, multi-team programs in agile development methodologies.
  • Strong program management presentation and reporting skills.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies on the fly and ship to production.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in Data Governance Program deliverables, executive-level presentation, and data modeling, performance testing, and tuning.
