We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee to join our team at the State of Pennsylvania. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee, you will be responsible for engaging in a comprehensive, hands-on training program under the supervision of experienced staff, focusing on the analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair tasks associated with construction equipment, trucks, and automobiles powered by gasoline or diesel engines.
Key Responsibilities- Repair and overhaul of various vehicles and heavy machinery
- Maintenance and repair of equipment such as sweepers, mixers, and front-end loaders
- Identification of necessary repairs and assistance in the replacement of components like shock absorbers, transmissions, clutches, and brakes
- Wheel balancing and alignment, minor body repairs, and testing, repair, or replacement of alternators and electrical systems
- Participation in preventative maintenance tasks for vehicles and equipment
- Two years of experience as a Tradesman Helper in the automotive field, or
- Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school, or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to heavy machinery and equipment. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a variety of weather conditions.
