Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Certification: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program that includes a clinical externship is essential. The curriculum must cover pharmacology and medication administration. Fully online programs for the entire curriculum are not acceptable. Certification or registration must be obtained within six months of hire, with an education agreement signed. Acceptable certifications include CMA from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA from the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), and others as specified. Alternative work experience may qualify candidates for certification exams if not already certified at the time of hire.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification as CMA, RMA, or CCMA is required.
  • Additional Skills: Ability to successfully complete both generic and department-specific skills validation and competency assessments.
