Job Overview

Albany Area Primary Health Care is seeking a skilled Optician to join our team at Dawson Medical Center. This role involves managing the dispensary/lab area of our Vision Clinic, ensuring excellent patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an individual with strong optical knowledge and experience in frame styling, fitting, and adjusting. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working directly with patients to explain frame styling and dispensing processes
  • Performing measurements with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively communicating fitting and dispensing processes for patient comprehension
  • Demonstrating optical knowledge through frame selection, repair, adjustments, and dispensing practices
  • FOLLOWING ALL ANSI OPTICAL STANDARDS
  • Assisting with scheduling for the vision clinic
  • Maintaining work areas properly stocked and adequate supplies
  • Keeping frame inventory up-to-date, clean, and organized
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • ABO Certification or State License
  • Previous optical dispensing experience (preferably)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Strong organizational skills
  • MS Office experience (preferably)
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced clinical environment, with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic setting. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
