Job Description: Ambulatory Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ambulatory Care Specialist to join our team at Upstate University Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for managing incoming new patient referrals, verifying demographic and insurance information, and generating routine forms and documentation. Additionally, you will process incoming/outgoing patient appointment referrals, schedule complex multiple provider appointments, and provide administrative support to ambulatory patient care functions.

About the Role:
The Ambulatory Care Specialist will work closely with our clinical teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care. This includes understanding the need for ABNs and Waivers of Liability, obtaining insurance authorizations, and prioritizing incoming mail, faxes, and correspondence. Additionally, they will assist with completing FMLA and Disability forms as needed.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need an Associate's degree and two years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare-related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. You must also have working knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing/insurance requirements, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year.
