POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the housekeeping staff, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of hotel rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and public areas. This position also involves managing laundry services and performing inspections of the facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains cleanliness of guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas as per established standards.
  • Delegates tasks to housekeeping staff in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Assists in the training and development of housekeeping personnel regarding safety protocols and company policies.
  • Regularly communicates with the Front Desk regarding room availability and updates the front desk system as needed.
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries and concerns.
  • Identifies needs for room supplies, furniture updates, and maintenance requests.
  • Inspects carpets, drapes, and furniture for cleanliness and wear, and plans for deep cleaning as necessary.
  • Monitors inventory of linens and supplies.
  • Records inspection outcomes and informs cleaning staff of any deficiencies.
  • Assists in the secure storage of housekeeping keys and manages lost and found items.

COMPANY POLICIES:
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and specific property guidelines, including dress code and safety standards.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and punctuality in attendance.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
  • Indirectly supervises a team of 1-30 employees in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Executes supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
  • Involves in interviewing, hiring, training, work assignment, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence, and responding to inquiries from management, customers, and staff.
  • Effective communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and handle measurements in various units.
  • Competence in counting and calculating monetary transactions.

REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to address problems with standardized solutions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The physical demands of this position require regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, as well as the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment may expose employees to various conditions, including cleaning chemicals and moderate noise levels. Safety precautions must be followed at all times.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Must possess the ability to manage crises effectively, including dealing with upset guests and emergency situations.
