Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient report and communicate effectively with RNs regarding patient care and changes in condition
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
  • Transport patients to other areas of the hospital as directed
  • Carry out the Plan of Care for Patients using a Multidisciplinary Approach as delegated by Team Leader
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care
  • Provide appropriate grooming, oral hygiene, and comfort measures, and assist patients with activities such as ambulation, up in chair, turn and reposition
  • Document all patient care activities, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, I&O's accurately and timely, and per unit and department standards
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics, and accountability
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman
  • Previous Patient Care experience in an acute care setting
  • Critical Care experience
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, walking, talking, and use of hands to touch, handle, or feel. Occasional sitting, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead, tasting, or smelling may be required. The ability to lift 100 lbs. or more and push/pull weight of 100 lbs. or more is necessary. The work environment is inside a medical facility with moderate noise levels and requires near visual acuity, far visual acuity, color discrimination, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Hazards may include biological, chemical, electrical, radiation, sharp objects/tools, and dust.
