Role Summary
The Evening Housekeeping Supervisor plays a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team of custodial staff across various facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that cleanliness standards and service quality are consistently met. Key responsibilities include supervising the daily activities of housekeeping personnel, conducting inspections of completed tasks, addressing any service-related concerns, and providing support to team members as needed.
This role also involves participating in the recruitment process for new staff, facilitating training programs, managing performance issues, and overseeing inventory levels of cleaning supplies. The Supervisor is expected to engage in all relevant safety initiatives and exemplify exceptional service standards while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor. In the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor, this position assumes overall responsibility for the housekeeping operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of custodial staff:
- Train new hires
- Assign daily tasks
- Monitor ongoing work and verify completed tasks
- Assist staff with challenges or unique situations
- Address minor disciplinary matters and personnel issues
- Report significant personnel matters to the supervisor
- Review employee timesheets
- Ensure compliance with established cleanliness and service standards.
- Perform various cleaning tasks, including:
- Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors
- Shampooing carpets
- Cleaning windows, walls, and trash receptacles
- Dusting furniture and fixtures
- Sanitizing and restocking bathrooms
- Changing light bulbs and moving furniture as needed
- Conducting routine maintenance on cleaning equipment
- Coordinating specialized cleaning projects
- Assisting with snow removal
- Communicate effectively with university personnel, including other housekeeping leads and facilities management.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and diversity within the team.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma is preferred, along with two to three years of relevant experience in commercial or institutional cleaning environments. Key qualifications include:
- Basic supervisory skills, including decision-making and time management.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Physical capability to perform custodial tasks and operate cleaning machinery.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting cleaning equipment is advantageous.
