We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Consultant to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and providing expert guidance on safety and physical environment matters.
Key Responsibilities- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of federal, state, and local agencies, including the Department of Public Health, DNV, Joint Commission, CMS, EPA, OSHA, and local authorities having jurisdiction.
- Safety and Physical Environment Management: Develop and implement effective safety and physical environment management systems, including the Physical Environment Management System/Environment of Care Program.
- Education and Training: Provide safety education and training to team members and contractors, including annual safety training and new team member orientation.
- Committee Leadership: Serve as chair of the Physical Environment (PE)/Environment of Care (EC) Committee and associated sub-committees, directing the activities of both.
- Reporting and Analysis: Develop and provide reports, analyses, and actions required for the Physical Environment, including trending and analysis of data.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with department leaders, hospital leaders, and other sites to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Certifications: Health Care Facility Manager (CHFM) certification, Safety Professional (CSP) certification, or Health Care Environmental Manager (HEM) certification.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Health Care Administration, Safety, Facilities Maintenance, or Regulatory Science.
- Experience: Typically requires 5 years of experience in Facilities or a related field.
- Skills and Abilities: Critical thinking, independent decision making, clear and concise communication, and ability to operate computer and computer software programs.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Environmental Hazards: May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
- Travel: Position requires occasional travel, which may expose you to road and weather hazards.
