Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Crane Operator to join our team. As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for operating a crane to load and unload trailers, as well as performing various tasks on the production floor.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operate a crane to load and unload trailers, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  2. Perform tasks on the production floor, including loading and unloading trailers, stacking bales, and cutting foam.
  3. Read and understand orders and written communication to determine style, compound, and quantities.
  4. Use tape measure reading 16ths to ensure accurate measurements.
  5. Ensure trailers wheels are chocked, raise/lower dock plates, and hook/unhook hydraulic hoses.
  6. Load and unload trailers as required, and transport within the plant.
  7. Unload baler and stack bales.
  8. Pull buns from inventory based on schedule/order and return to inventory.
  9. Accurately and legibly complete required paperwork and report any deficiencies.
  10. Load and stack product into carts to heights above head.
  11. Cut fiber/foam on saw, bag, and transport product using various means.
  12. Operate lift truck on production floor and load and unload trailers safely.
  13. Determine and draw layout using nesting techniques for best foam utilization.
  14. Transport foam, place onto machine, cut, unload, and write pertinent information on cut product.
  15. Change blades as required and break down rails, string tie part as necessary.
  16. Inspect buns for tears, splits, and defects, and plan the cutting of each bun to obtain maximum yield.
  17. Use discretion when accepting/rejecting foam to be cut.
  18. Make blade and adjustments on cutting units to specified dimensions.
  19. Activate blades and conveyors from consoles.
  20. Check dimensions of material being cut for conformance to cutting instructions and standard allowances.
  21. Generate and/or affix bun tickets to buns and record production figures.
  22. Check continuously for proper equipment conditions and notify supervisor immediately of any operational concerns.
  23. Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  24. Load scrap into carts and take to/from grinder room.
  25. Using hand saw, cut 50 foot side strips into manageable handling widths.
  26. Perform monthly roll inventory.
  27. Roll up flat sheet stock while sitting, tie with string, and throw roll over the head to the floor for loading.
  28. Retrieve full scrap carts, remove scrap foam from carts, buggies, floor, place into baler.
  29. Set machine settings, operate baling unit, tie bales, remove from unit using lift truck, and complete paperwork.
  30. Take responsibility for and keep abreast of all changes in product and process.
  31. Promote and support an environment of cooperation.
  32. Take direction from multiple supervision and leaders.
Requirements:
  • Sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time and assigned work hours.
  • Ability to work independently under general direction to set priorities, manage workload, meet deadlines, and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to anticipate and act to remove obstacles that are likely to affect this or other jobs in a negative way.
  • Ability to find simpler, faster, and less costly ways to produce results while maintaining high quality.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent changes in job assignments and priorities.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
