Position Overview

The Event Service Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring that food and beverage items are delivered and served to guests during banquet events in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner, aligning with the hotel's commitment to exceptional guest service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor throughout the event.
  • Deliver food service for banquet functions in accordance with hotel and banquet standards.
  • Set up action stations and assist in cooking tasks such as simmering, browning, and sautéing, while serving patrons in line with the head chef's presentation guidelines.
  • Prepare banquet buffet displays, ensuring timely setup of both hot and cold items.
  • Monitor and replenish food levels at buffet displays as necessary.
  • Engage with guests to identify food allergies, preferences, and dietary restrictions, communicating these to the appropriate banquet captain.
  • Exhibit proper techniques for brewing coffee and tea.
  • Familiarize oneself with seating arrangements for plated events and adhere to proper serving techniques for food placement at guest tables during synchronized service.
  • Complete daily side duties, including post-event cleanup, organization, and thorough cleaning of work areas.
  • Attend all required pre-shift and post-shift meetings with banquet leadership.
  • Ensure that all equipment used is stored in an orderly and clean manner, following the instructions of banquet leadership.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, treating them with respect and dignity.
  • Balance individual and team responsibilities, demonstrating openness to diverse perspectives.
  • Encourage team morale and commitment to shared goals.
  • Support the success of all team members.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with the expectation to assist in various hotel operations.
  • Deliver enthusiastic and engaging service to guests, recognizing individual needs and striving to exceed expectations.

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Strong communication skills essential for training, safety, and guest interactions.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Availability for various shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understanding of basic room layouts and seating arrangements.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and effectively communicate in small group settings.
  • Valid Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server's Permit and ServSafe Food Handler Certificate are required.
Experience

A minimum of one year of prior food service experience is required, preferably in banquet settings.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be necessary.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically loud, and hearing protection may be required.
