Job Title: Special Law Enforcement Officer II (SLEO II)

The Clayton Police Department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class - II. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and upholding the law in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce laws and regulations to ensure public safety and order
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide assistance as needed
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support criminal cases
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share information and best practices
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid Basic Police Officer Certification from the New Jersey Police Training Commission
  • Hold a SLEO-2 Certification from the New Jersey Police Training Commission
  • Hold an Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college
  • Honorable discharge from the military after full military service, and 30 college credits
  • Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of New Jersey
  • Be able to read and write the English language proficiently and intelligently
  • Have no convictions of any indictable New Jersey Laws or the Laws of the United States, nor shall have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude
  • Have a valid New Jersey driver's license
  • Submit to and successfully complete a background investigation
  • Submit to and successfully pass a physical fitness test
  • Submit to and successfully pass a drug screening test pursuant to the Attorney Generals Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy
  • Submit to and successfully pass a medical examination and have a medical doctor complete a Medical Certification Form
  • Submit to and successfully pass a psychological examination

The position will also be subject to other duties and responsibilities as set forth in the job description and Clayton Police Policy on file with the Clayton Borough Clerk.
