The Community Choice Financial Family of Brands is currently seeking a Compliance Counsel.

The Compliance Counsel is tasked with delivering strategic advisory services, oversight, and direction on regulatory obligations and adherence to relevant laws, rules, and regulations.

This role proactively develops innovative solutions to achieve outcomes aimed at identifying, mitigating, and managing regulatory and reputational risks.


Additionally, you will oversee personnel resources to formulate, communicate, and uphold a regulatory framework that aligns with compliance mandates, assisting the Company in navigating and minimizing regulatory risks.

This individual will also oversee the licensing functions of the Company, which includes submitting new licensing requests, renewals, and managing the corporate structure.

The Compliance Counsel will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel and will be a vital member of the Legal Department.


Responsibilities:

Acts as a regulatory subject matter expert with a focus on consumer lending laws and state regulations, advising various internal stakeholders on compliance requirements and the management of associated legal and regulatory risks.

Monitors pertinent legislative, regulatory, and supervisory changes, assisting in the analysis and advising internal partners on the implications of these changes.

Engages with regulatory bodies regarding significant compliance areas as necessary through examination processes or relationship-building efforts.
Guides and supports the regulatory examination management team as required.
Creates and updates Company documents in line with modifications in regulatory or statutory provisions.

Collaborates regularly with other members of the legal team and various functional and business groups as part of diverse cross-functional teams.

Responds to inquiries and provides guidance to other departments and employees regarding the application of compliance policies and procedures.

Builds essential relationships across the organization to effectively and efficiently deliver results.
Provides constructive feedback on processes, regulatory changes, controls, and deficiency remediation.
Participates in a wide range of other legal and risk-related matters as needed.
Reviews all Company marketing, training, and communication materials directed at employees and customers.

Leads the licensing team responsible for applying for, renewing, and maintaining all Company licenses while effectively managing corporate documentation and entity formation.

Facilitates opportunities to broaden product offerings in new markets.
Engages external legal counsel and resources as necessary.

Maintain a full-time work schedule with regular, in-person attendance during standard business hours, at a minimum, 40 hours per week.

Ability to meet the physical demands for this position, which frequently include:
the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard.

Qualifications:
Licensed attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience in banking, regulatory, and related fields. Experience in a major law firm and/or in-house role preferred. Graduate of an accredited law school with a strong academic record. Highest ethical standards and integrity. Strong leadership capabilities. Risk-focused and service-oriented mindset. Excellent writing and communication skills. Exceptional judgment. Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of internal clients. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Effective time-management abilities. Physical demands for this position frequently include: the ability to remain in a stationary position, move about freely inside and occasionally outside of the office, and the operation of mechanical controls, such as a keyboard. Knowledge of marketing, social media, training, and/or communications methods, processes, and administration preferred. Experience with corporate documentation and licensing is advantageous.
