This position is responsible for providing daily supervision, leadership, guidance, and direction to Cadets enrolled in the Oregon Youth ChalleNGe Program.

The Group Life Coordinator 2 will be responsible for ensuring cadet compliance with policies and procedures in areas such as physical training, academics, health & hygiene, military standards, service to the community, and daily living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise youth with emphasis on safety, personal growth, teamwork, and the program's eight core components.
  • Monitor and report the behavior of cadets during daily activities, offsite community projects, academic instruction, meals, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work effectively with youth who may have social, economic, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Assist youth in developing short and long-term goals, overcoming obstacles, conflict resolution, and developing life skills.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in daily physical fitness activities, including running and calling cadence.
  • Provide classroom instruction on a variety of topics related to program standards and character development.

Working Conditions:

This position is subject to shift work and requires the ability to work beyond established core hours/days when necessary to accomplish program activities and requirements.

Required to work various shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays, and subject to occasional overnight travel.

Extensive walking, regular marching, and running with youth are required, as well as occasional lifting and physical exertion.

Occasional exposure to adverse weather and environmental conditions is also possible.
