Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Safety Team Lead to join our Facilities Services team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and project management efforts for the repair and replacement of major equipment across campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disseminate information and directives from FOM leadership to the team to achieve maximum success in meeting client and UT mission and vision.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead both the electrical safety programs and maintenance and upgrades to campus building automation systems.
  • Lead a team of engineers and other professionals providing facilities engineering and project management services for higher education, research, and healthcare projects for all UT Austin campuses.
  • Mentor, guide, and manage engineering and technical staff individually and as a collective team.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to ensure delivery of key initiatives and maintain agility to maximize resource utilization against ongoing changing needs of clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a field related to the work to be performed.
  • Five years of progressive experience in the field of facilities engineering, construction, and project management.
  • Eligible for Professional Engineer license within one year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Professional Engineer or other advanced licenses specific to electrical and automation.
  • More than ten years of experience in facilities engineering, construction, and project management.
  • Experience with UT systems, programs, software such as FAMIS, DEFINE, WORKQS, WORQSpace, and Tableau.
Working Conditions

This position and associated job duties have been designated as essential during extraordinary and emergency situations when the university is closed. Essential personnel must maintain contact with their supervisor and report to work as regularly scheduled unless directed otherwise.

Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements.

May be required to work in confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Considerable walking, standing, squatting, stooping, and moving of heavy materials and equipment in all weather conditions.

May be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.

May be exposed to loud noise, high dust, and allergen levels.

May be required to lift up to 50lbs. Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull, and bend.

May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts, and cranes. Operate job-related equipment.

May be required to perform elevated work. Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.

May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator.

Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section
