Job Summary

The Employee Health Specialist will partner with the Infection Control Committee to develop and oversee the hospital's infection control program. This includes surveillance activities, investigation of potential outbreaks, hospital and medical staff education, and ongoing data analysis and trending.

Responsibilities
  • Document and assess employee injuries and illnesses, providing quality care and ensuring compliance with corporate and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate the care of employees who experience on-the-job incidents, including referrals, appointment setting, medical record documentation, and invoice approval for payments to service providers.
  • Maintain frequent contact with hospital leadership regarding injured employees, light-duty assignments, projected return to work, and other pertinent employee information.
  • Perform pre-employment and annual health screenings, employee inoculation and testing programs, Blood-borne Pathogens and TB Control programs, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee and Infection Control Committee, providing reports and feedback as required.
  • Provide education and support for the Employee Health and Safety program to hospital leadership.
  • Administer first aid to minor employee injuries and make medical referrals as necessary.
  • Coordinate processes to reduce the risk of endemic and epidemic nosocomial infections in patients and healthcare workers.
  • Collect and analyze data for patient care findings and identification of nosocomial infections.
  • Report and disseminate infection rates and other significant infection control issues to various medical committees.
  • Implement strategies to prevent outbreaks when identified.
  • Evaluate and improve nosocomial risk reduction processes.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Minimum of 1 year general clinical nursing experience, with previous experience in Occupational Health or Employee Health/Wellness programs preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensure within 30 days of employment start date.
