Transportation Trainee

The Driver Trainee role at McLane Company is designed to equip individuals with the fundamental skills necessary for a successful career in driving. This position focuses on the precise and timely delivery of goods to various client locations, while also providing insights into warehouse operations as part of the training to become a proficient McLane Driver.
- Training Pay Rate: $65,000-$75,000
- Post-Training Pay Rate: $75,000 to $110,000

- Securely attach trailers to tractors and operate vehicles in accordance with safety regulations.
- Conduct equipment inspections for any defects, manage delivery documentation, and ensure safe transport of goods.
- Accompany a Driver Trainer to learn about driving laws and commercial driving techniques.
- Maintain accurate driver logs as per DOT guidelines, assist with unloading, and deliver exceptional customer service.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, candidates must be at least 21 years old, capable of loading/unloading products, communicate effectively, and drive a tractor-trailer safely.
- The role involves working in a distribution center, transportation department, repair shop, and client facilities.
- Conditions may include moderate noise levels, vehicle vibrations, and exposure to varying weather conditions, along with regular travel and overnight assignments.
