Transportation Trainee

The Driver Trainee role at McLane Company is designed for individuals eager to master the core responsibilities of a Driver. This position involves learning the precise and timely delivery of goods to various client locations. Trainees will gain insight into warehouse operations and logistical functions as they progress towards becoming a qualified McLane Driver.
- Training Pay Rate: $65,000-$75,000
- Post-Training Pay Rate: $75,000 to $110,000

- Securely attach trailers to tractors and operate vehicles in accordance with safety regulations.
- Conduct equipment inspections for any defects, document delivery receipts, and ensure the safe transport of goods.
- Accompany a Driver Trainer to learn about driving regulations and commercial driving techniques.
- Maintain a driver log in compliance with DOT regulations, assist with unloading trailers, and provide exceptional customer service.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, candidates must be at least 21 years old, capable of loading/unloading and delivering products as ordered by clients, possess effective communication skills, and drive a tractor-trailer safely.
- The work setting includes distribution centers, transportation departments, workshops, and client facilities.
- Conditions may involve moderate noise levels, vehicle vibrations, and exposure to extreme weather, with frequent travel and overnight stays.
