Job Title: Housing Specialist

Job Summary:

Caminar is seeking a skilled Housing Specialist to join our team in San Mateo. As a Housing Specialist, you will provide lease-up assistance and housing case management services to clients in our Supported Housing Program. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of housing rehabilitation principles and a passion for empowering individuals to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients in achieving their rehabilitation goals through psychosocial rehabilitation principles
  • Develop and maintain respectful, caring, and empowering relationships with clients
  • Teach independent living skills, including cleaning, budgeting, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain a client caseload and meet productivity requirements
  • Provide supportive counseling and cognitive/behavioral interventions to help clients achieve their housing goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with property managers to assist with tenant-landlord relationships
  • Drive agency vehicles to treatment destinations and document mileage
  • Assist clients with making maintenance requests and educating them on tenant rights and responsibilities
  • Conduct property inspections and report on living conditions
  • Oversee vendor repairs and installations
  • Assist clients with reviewing lease agreements and move-in inspections
  • Build rapport and maintain relationships with property management, area boards, and care facilities to facilitate placements
  • Help clients access funds for security deposits from local charitable organizations
  • Document all objectives and interventions in a timely manner
  • File documents appropriately and maintain an efficient office environment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a mental health or human services field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows environment, including email and internet navigation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the organization in a positive manner
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
