Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cocktail Server to join our team at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort. As a Cocktail Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests while taking orders and serving beverages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take orders and serve alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and procedures.
  • Stay informed and knowledgeable about specials, products, and prices.
  • Provide timely cocktail service in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Keep assigned areas clean and clear of empty drink containers and trash.
  • Constantly look for service opportunities.
  • Maintain a proper, complete, and clean uniform.
  • Use all available resources to complete essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Report any service issues to the manager on duty.
  • Report immediately any incidents of potential over-service to the manager on duty.
  • Stay informed of company information and communications by reviewing property bulletin boards, digital signage, and company newsletter.
  • Effectively communicate concerns and information to supervisor and listen to communication from supervisor.
  • Effectively relate ideas for improvements to supervisor and management in accordance with chain of command.
  • Provide excellent internal and external guest service, treating internal and external guests with courtesy and consideration at all times.
  • Cooperate and communicate with all fellow team members, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Maintain an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal and external guests.
  • Punctual attendance is required.
  • Ability to work required overtime.
  • Knowledge of alcoholic beverages, liquors, wines, beers, and spirits.
  • Ability to "upsell" and recommend products.
  • Ability to perform basic math and make change.
  • Ability to handle guests in varied areas with attention to timely and accurate delivery of product.
  • Ability to lead by example and act as a positive role model.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and friendly demeanor in all situations.
  • Ability to handle and defuse hostile, intoxicated, or upset individuals professionally and calmly.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safe service standards.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and understands English; additional language knowledge is a plus.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality as scheduled is required.
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with managerial staff, co-workers, guests, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with attendance and appearance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • At least six months experience in beverage service in a high-volume, fast-paced environment; nightclub experience preferred.
  • Casino experience preferred.
  • ServSafe certified.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Must successfully complete R.S.A.
